Company History
Cornell Pump Company was founded in 1946 when five forward-thinking employees at the Pacific Pump Company decided to team up and branch out on their own. They knew the common pump failures and what operators in different industries were looking for, so they started by servicing all models of pumps from various manufacturers.
By 1949, the Cornell team decided it was time to start manufacturing their own pumps to address the concerns and needs of the agricultural industry, including their innovative ‘Rain-O-Flow” irrigation pumps. Before long, farmers and other industries reached out to manage other processing applications beyond irrigation. More specifically, operators were looking for solutions to deal with solids in their pump systems. This led to the development of a non-clog line of pumps from Cornell that put them on the map. The business only expanded from there into the diverse centrifugal pump company we know today.

One of the other significant innovations in Cornell’s history is the creation of their Pump School. What started as traveling lectures and presentations eventually became one of the pump industry’s most celebrated annual training and education events.
