Looking for a Specific Type of Pump?

Xylem Inc. was established in 2011 as a spin-off from ITT Corporation. They are a global water technology leader dedicated to solving the world’s toughest water challenges. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., Xylem’s offerings span the full water cycle—from clean water delivery and wastewater transport to industrial dewatering, analytical instrumentation and pumping systems. The company operates in more than 150 countries, backed by a workforce of approximately 23,000 professionals and reporting 2024 revenues of around $8.6 billion.

Xylem is organized into three core segments:

  • Water Infrastructure, including pumps, mixers, valves, treatment systems and analytics for utility and industrial water and wastewater applications.
  • Applied Water, covering residential, commercial, agricultural and light‑industrial pumping, water systems, controllers and HVAC solutions.
  • Measurement & Control, which offers smart metering, digital analytics and instrumentation for efficient water management

Further strengthening its service capabilities, Xylem completed its acquisition of Evoqua Water Technologies in 2023, creating the world’s largest pure‑play water technology company—expanding treatment and integrated water service offerings globally.

Company History

Xylem was formed in 2011 when ITT Corporation spun off its water‑related businesses, giving rise to an independent, water‑focused technology enterprise While it is a relatively new company, Xylem inherits decades of heritage from renowned brands such as Flygt (founded in Sweden in 1901), A‑C Pump (stemming from the 19th century) and Sanitaire.

The company has pursued an aggressive strategy combining organic innovation with strategic acquisitions. Notable milestones include the 2015 acquisition of smart metering leader Sensus and the acquisitions of Visenti, Pure Technologies and EmNet, and. Most recently, Xylem acquired Evoqua in 2023, which significantly broadened its reach into industrial water treatment, integrated services, and infrastructure analytics.

Under successive leadership, Xylem has advanced into digital water technologies and infrastructure solutions, launching platforms like Xylem Vue for utility intelligence and marking its debut on the Fortune 500 list in 2024, reflecting its sustained growth and leadership in water innovation.
