Milton Roy Metering Pumps Deliver Accurate Results

The most important function of a metering pump is to provide accuracy and consistency during operation. You want the process fluid to be transported at controlled flow rates and with optimum energy efficiency. Milton Roy (MilRoy) metering pumps deliver the accurate results you desire, with exceptional precision and performance.

Every gear in a Milton Roy drive system is submerged in an oil bath. This ensures long life and allows for the flow capacity to be adjusted on the fly while operating or at rest, with a ±1.0% accuracy over a 10:1 turn-down ratio. The secret to Milton Roy’s accuracy is found in their innovative hydraulic by-pass technology.

Hydraulic By-Pass
Milton Roy metering pumps feature a unique hydraulic by-pass mechanism that uses a piston with a constant stroke length. The piston pumps hydraulic fluid and the pumping motion is then transferred into the diaphragm. Note this type of drive system can only be mated with a hydraulically actuated diaphragm liquid end.

When you change the location of the hydraulic by-pass port over the piston’s path of travel, you can change the capacity. It is a process known as hydraulic lost motion, where pumping power is controlled by the relationship between the hydraulic piston and the diaphragm. Milton Roy offers two pump series that utilize this technology.

mRoy
Milton Roy has the mRoy A and mRoy B lines of metering pumps. In these pumps, the piston pumps hydraulic fluid. The fluid either forces the diaphragm to flex or it is relieved through the by-pass port. The port is positioned using a special control valve that is set based on the desired capacity. These metering pumps can handle pressures up to 1800 psi and capacities ranging from 0.43 GPH to 85 GPH. They can be fitted with simplex or duplex liquid ends, if you want to double capacity up to 170 GPH.

maxRoy
Milton Roy maxRoy metering pumps allow for capacity variance by positioning a stroke adjust sleeve over by-pass ports that are bored through the hollow piston. The ports are completely covered when the pump is operating at 100% capacity. A cup valve is attached to the diaphragm, which closes all hydraulic paths to the diaphragm once it has reached its full forward position. This eliminates the need for a process control plate and prevents excessive hydraulic pressure on the diaphragm. MaxRoy metering pumps can handle flow rates between 135 GPH and 227 GPH, as well as maximum discharge pressures up to 150 psi. Their economical design makes them a great choice for mid-range metering pump capacity at low pressure.
