While a sanitary centrifugal pump is more appropriate for certain applications, others demand a positive displacement design for more efficient processing. Shear sensitive materials and fluids with solids will need to be moved more gently through the pump system to avoid damaging the integrity of the food product, beverage, cosmetics or pharmaceuticals. At the same time, high sanitization standards must be met.
